East Coast College is delighted to announce a series of new, fully funded training courses as part of the Skills Deal Programme, funded by Suffolk County Council. This initiative has been designed to address Suffolk’s most pressing workforce challenges by:
- Enhancing the regions current training offer
- Supporting innovative responses to skills shortages
- Expanding the talent pipeline to build a future-ready workforce
- Strengthening partnerships between employers and training providers
As part of this exciting programme, East Coast College will deliver free training in two key areas – renewable energy and diverse workforces.
With Suffolk already positioned as a national leader in Clean Energy, and major offshore wind and nuclear developments underway, the need for a highly skilled energy workforce has never been greater. East Coast College is responding with free, introductory courses aimed at attracting new talent into the sector:
- Nuclear Behaviours – Starting 10 July
- Introduction to Wind – Starting 11 August
- Introduction to Hydrogen – Starting 8 September
- Introduction to Carbon Capture – Start date to be confirmed
These courses are ideal for individuals exploring a career in clean energy or employers looking to upskill staff.
While Suffolk boasts high employment rates, the region faces challenges related to workplace health and the disability employment gap. To address this, East Coast College is offering dedicated training to help employers create inclusive work environments that support productivity and long-term success.
To launch these new courses, East Coast College will be hosting an Inclusive Workforces Conference on Monday 7 July 2025 at their Lowestoft Campus. This event will bring together employers and experts to explore best practices in workplace inclusion and wellbeing.

Following the conference, additional training opportunities will be available to help employers embed inclusive practices across their organisations.
